OpenCare is an independent software project, offered free so families and communities can coordinate care. Using it means you accept these terms. They are short on purpose — read them.

The service is provided as-is

OpenCare is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind — express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to keep it reliable and secure, and we make no guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Not medical advice. Not for emergencies.

OpenCare is a coordination tool, not a healthcare provider. Nothing in the app — including AI-generated responses — is medical advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US). Do not rely on OpenCare for time-critical or safety-critical communication.

Your content and your responsibility

You own what you put in. You're responsible for it, for who you invite into your circles, and for the links and API keys you create and share. Only enter information about another person with their knowledge and consent (or that of their caregiver/guardian).

Acceptable use

Don't use OpenCare to:

  • harass, deceive, or harm anyone;
  • access or attempt to access another account's data;
  • probe, overload, or disrupt the service;
  • send spam through email or notification features;
  • do anything illegal.

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules, and we may rate-limit features to keep the service healthy for everyone.

API and AI agents

API keys and the MCP server let software act on your behalf. Anything your connected agent does with your key counts as you doing it. Keep keys secret; revoke them if in doubt. API access carries the same acceptable-use rules and may be rate-limited.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the OpenCare project and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. The service is free; total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to use it — zero dollars.

Changes and contact
